January

The month of December was a short one. However, we had plenty of things going on. We made Christmas decorations, created gingerbread houses, put on a Christmas play and still had time to work on our one hundred wall. The students earned $18.00 for their 100% papers in December. This got them a large variety pack of ice cream.
Ms. Pat came into GAP and helped the students make Christmas scenes, so I want to give Pat Bridgers an big thank you. The students really enjoyed the process and it was clearly their favorite final project for the season.
After a couple of failed attempts at gingerbread houses, we finally found a winning recipe. All the students and adults made a house.
The Christmas Celebration was great. We displayed current student works as well as their creations for the season on night of the celebration (December 20th). If you missed it here are some highlight pictures of the event.

If you missed the celebration or would like a copy, let me know and I can make a CD for you. It is not letting me download something so large on here.

December

Now that we have spent time getting to know our ipads and how they work, we have been using them to write our assignments.

There are also several math apps on them which allow for practice of basic skills.
The favorite free time activities are stackers which asks questions about geography and the states and photo booth which allows students to take pictures of themselves and their friends.

September news

Now that I have figured out the blog, let's go back and review the year.

November

We had a nice time celebrating Halloween this
year. It happens to be Ms. Tish’s favorite holiday so I like to do lots of activities over several days. We carved pumpkins, dressed up and had a small carnival. The junior high students did an outstanding job of helping me run the carnival. I believe everyone had great time. Only problem was...we burnt the pumpkin seeds. I am thinking we need someone who knows how to cook them to come in and give us a little lesson on that. Burnt pumpkin seeds are
quite yucky!

We also gave away a ton of books. These books were books found around the school (mostly older teaching materials). We hope you enjoy them. We are planning to give away students books from the library project in the spring. These will be library books for students and adults to read.

Technology Everywhere!
During the month of September the teachers
were trained on using the new IPads. We
learned about programs and options that are
available on the new computers.
Now that we are better at using them
ourselves we are sharing the information. It
has been technology ...technology...
technology for the last couple of weeks.

REMINDERS

School doors open at 8:10
Breakfast is served from 8:15 to 8:30
If students are a little late, they can finish
up and then join the activities.
If the doors are still locked at 8:10 simply
knock on the door. We are usually busy
preparing for the day and are not always aware
of the time.
Also, students who wish the use the internet
access have to sign an internet agreement form.
These were sent home the first week so you
could be aware of what your children are
signing at school. They are due Friday, so if
you do not want you child on the internet, call
the office and let us know. Otherwise, students and
parents will be signing them this week.

Buffalo Trip
On the first of September the fourth and fifth grade students have been invited to see the buffalo heard in Delta. Ann Pennington and the Food

Service group coordinated the trip. The students will get to see the buffalo, learn about foods that can be made with the buffalo, the history of the herd

and more interesting facts. We hope they have a wonderful time.
